In this week, more than half a dozen films are to be released on Dec 24, and one important film is ‘Manmadhan Ambu.’
The other films are:
‘Nellu’ starring Sathya and Bagyanjali and directed by Sivasankar.
‘Aridhu Aridhu’ staring Harish and Uthara, directed by Shankar’s assistant Madhivannan.
‘Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru’ directed by Seenu Ramasamy.
‘Bavani’ starring Sneha, directed by Kicha.
‘Kotti’ starring newcomers.
‘Kuttichathan’ starring Prakashraj and directed by Jijo.
‘Gandhipuram’ starring Arjun.
When big banner films are released, there is a shortage of theatres for small budget films. Films of Vijay, Karthi and Dhanush are to be released for Pongal. These films will be on for at least a month and after that we will have world cup cricket and audience for films will be dismal. That is why it is better to use the time now to release these 8 films, seems to be the reasoning behind this. There seems to be another reason too. Right now, govt is giving grant for small budget films. Next year we have the parliament elections. So, there is a fear that if ADMK comes to power, this grant would no longer be available. Hence the urgency of the producers to have their films released this month.
