According to a latest survey, B-Town’s beefcaked body with adonis looks Salman Khan, and ravishing belle Katrina Kaif are the most downloaded celebrities by Indian mobile users for 2010. Katrina is followed by Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor and last race Aishwarya Rai, to feature among the top five category, according to a study titled ‘Airtel Mobitude 2010′ which is based on over 25 million images and wallpapers downloaded by Airtel mobile users.
Salman Khan has beaten the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor to grab the top spot.
“Today, people across India are increasingly relying on the mobile platform as their source of entertainment and information from songs, videos, wallpapers to applications. The findings of Airtel Mobitude 2010 are a true manifestation of what appeals to Indian masses, “Bharti airtel President (Mobile Services) Atul Bindal said.
“The survey captures the preference and choice of over 202 million mobile users located across the country.
Also, the nation’s patronage for cricket still rides high with the top two spots notched by Sachin Tendulkar and Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni.
Among female celebrities in sports, Sania Mirza was able to beat Maria Sharapova to be the most downloaded amongst females.
In the entertainment space, a total of 225 million songs were downloaded during the year. Songs from Bollywood movie ‘Dabaang’ were on the top of the Indian mobile charts with ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ and ‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’ bagged the first and second position respectively in the full songs downloaded category.
Interestingly, a whopping 90 billion SMSes were exchanged in the country on airtel during the year. The maximum number of SMSes exchanged was recorded at 12 billion on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, which turned out to be India’s most celebrated occasion, beating last year’s winner The New Year.”
