It’s Band Baaja Baaraat Celebrations for Yash Raj Films

Last week’s new release, Yash Raj’s Maneesh Sharma directed BAND BAAJA BAARAAT may not have got off to a flyer, considering the fact that it was pitted against a big star cast comedy film, NO PROBLEM, directed by Anees Bazmee, but as predicted by us in our box-office column the film has indeed turned out to be a dark horse. The film barely netted a crore on its opening day but during the week the Anushka Sharma-Ranveer Singh starrer picked up wonderfully to net nearly 10 crores. This goes on to show that the positive word-of-mouth has done the trick. If one takes into account the fact that that BBB is practically a starless small budgeted film with Yash Raj as it’s world wide distributors, we already have the film in the safety zone.

The good news is that it has also sustained beautifully during the second weekend and before the release of Christmas biggies there is enough breathing space for BAND BAAJA BAARAAT to get in some more rewards for its producer.
