Surya had a silent 2010 with only one film under his credit. But ‘Singam’ roared at the box-office breaking the collection records of his previous movies. Singam was directed by Hari and Sun Pictures distributed the movie. One of the biggest strength of Singam was its album. Devi Sri Prasad scored some feet tapping much which made the album sell like a hot cake. The success of ‘Singam’ and his debut in Bollywood through RGV’s Rakta Charitra has made 2010 a memorable year for him.
The Paruthi Veeran has made it big this year with 3 movies under his belt. His debut movie was a smash hit both in terms of box-office collection and positive criticism. Karthi has given 3 movies in 2010, which were, ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, ‘Paiyaa’, ‘Naan Mahan Alla’. Aayirathil Oruvan was praised for the attempts made by the director but did a average performance in terms of collections. Paiyaa regained Karthi’s and ‘Nan Mahaan Alla’ did the same too. Karthi was appreciated for his cool acting in Paiyaa. For the year 2010 Karthi bags No 4 spot.
Special thanks to Gautham Vasudev Menon!(for providing the much needed image makeover for STR). Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya for sure has transformed Simbu from a mass hero to class hero. Simbu who was disappointing his fans with average quality films surprised Kollywood with his subtle acting in VTV. To be true, Simbu earned a lot girls fans and new followers too. With one smash hit, Simbu stays at the 3rd spot for the list of top heroes in 2010.
Arya, “The hot hunk of Tamil cinema” we must say. In contradiction to his muscular looks, Arya has let his performance do the talking. Arya started off 2010 with Madrasapattinam. The critically acclaimed movie earned a lot of positive criticism for Arya and the female lead Amy Jackson. Then came the romantic comedy ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’. Santhanam and Arya together performed well and the movie was declared the best entertainer of 2010. Morever Arya is looking forward for the release of ‘Chikku Bukku’ in December. With two hits, Arya has earned the second spot in list of top heroes of 2010.
The undisputed king of Tamil cinema, Superstar Rajinikanth stands tall at the top spot. Rajinikanth’s Endhiran, has become the benchmark movie for Indian cinema. The technical advancements and presentation of the movie was first of its kind in Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth who is accused of not taking pains in his movies has turned down the criticism by working hard for Endhiran. Ranjinikanth will soon venture into ‘Hara’ and the remake of ‘Baasha’ which will be produced by Sathyajothi films.
